Dental Office Closure Notice.

Dear Patients,
In response to the current COVID-19 public health crisis with the executive order by Governor Whitmer and out of an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to close our dental office beginning March 18 2020, until the tentative date of April 6th, 2020. The health and safety of our patients and staff are always our top priority. We believe that taking this step now is in the best interest of all. We ask that if you have a TRUE DENTAL EMERGENCY and are a patient of record, you may leave a message on our office answering machine at (248)661-8700. Messages will be checked.
Or you may text with your name, brief message and contact number to our after hours emergency number 586-246-4072.

We apologize for the inconvenience this poses to you and your family, and we appreciate your understanding.

Sincerely,
Dr. Richard S. Bernstein & Staff

Farmington Hills dentist provides senior dental treatments

By
Full Mouth reconstruction Detroit - Senior Couple treatments Your health and that of your family is important to you. Meeting the needs of your loved ones in all ages or stages of life can be challenging. At Richard S. Bernstein, DDS, in Farmington Hills, Michigan, we believe in providing a complete range of advanced dental treatments for all ages. Our gentle, professional team understands that dental health needs change and evolve as we age.

As patients enter their senior years, certain oral health issues can arise, such as:

  • Dry mouth – a result of decreased saliva, dry mouth may be caused by many prescription medications, illnesses or diseases, or radiation treatments
  • Tooth decay – as gums recede, the root of the tooth is exposed to acids that can damage the tooth
  • Gum disease – there are many links between gum disease and other health conditions including diabetes, heart disease, cancer, anemia, stroke, and rheumatoid arthritis
  • Tooth lossgum disease is the number one cause of tooth loss
  • Discoloration – as the outer layer of enamel wears and thins over time, the darker, yellowish dentin underneath becomes more visible, leading to a duller, stained appearance
  • Uneven jawbone – often caused by tooth loss and the subsequent shifting of teeth into the open spaces
  • Stomatitis – inflammation caused by poorly fitted dentures
  • Thrush
Because conditions such as arthritis can affect an older patient's ability to maintain an appropriate daily routine of flossing and brushing, it is critical that examinations and cleanings are scheduled regularly. This helps our dental team monitor any changes that have occurred and prevent the development of potential oral health problems.

Our practice provides a comprehensive menu of cosmetic and restorative dental treatments to keep our older patients' smiles looking young, healthy, and vibrant. Treatments such as dental crowns, bridges, implants, porcelain veneers, and tooth whitening can take years off of your smile and boost your confidence and self-esteem.

For your family's optimal oral health at any age, contact our friendly, professional dental team at Richard S. Bernstein, DDS today. Appointments and consultations may be requested online or by calling 248.636.2100. Our practice is located in Farmington Hills, at 31158 Haggerty Road.
