Farmington Hills, MI, dentist stands out with truly full-service dentures treatment

Full Dentures Service at Richard S Bernstein DDS Office in Farmington Hills Area
As your home for advanced dentistry, Richard S. Bernstein, D.D.S., encourages you to consider replacement teeth that are held in place by dental implants. With extensive training in the latest techniques and investments in sophisticated technologies, Dr. Bernstein can offer full dentures service from the Farmington Hills, MI office. Other dentists in metro Detroit may promote implants as the “gold standard” in tooth replacement. However, when it comes down to it, they do not have the additional training and equipment to place these titanium-based cylinders that are designed to function like natural tooth roots. In these cases, they would have to refer the patient who wants implants to a dentist like Dr. Bernstein with appropriate implantology training.

Likewise, they may refer the patient to a specialist, such as an oral surgeon, which adds to the costs and hassle of getting your new teeth. It is only after the implants are surgically placed in the jaw and naturally join surrounding bone that you, as the patient, would return to their dentist for restorative work – the part of the tooth (or teeth) that is visible above the gumline. Or, in the case of dentures, the restorative work represents both the soft tissues (gums) and hard tissues (teeth).

Dr. Bernstein is happy to walk you through your options. So, you can make an informed decision about the best option to replace your missing teeth. He takes great care to preserve as many natural teeth as possible. As long as the teeth are healthy or can be restored to health with adjustments to, for instance, oral care, Dr. Bernstein will work with you to avoid extractions. We do not do unnecessary extractions. If Richard S. Bernstein D.D.S. can conserve some of your teeth, partial dentures or dental bridges would be recommended. The dentures option is removable, while bridges are fixed. The bridges may be supported with dental implants.
If you have lost all of your teeth or Dr. Bernstein anticipates that remaining natural teeth must be extracted, full dentures are in order. This complete option may be removable, spanning a denture base that replicates gum tissue, and that gets its stability from natural suction or adhesive products, or the dentures may be “fixed.” This fixed system isn’t going anywhere; these dentures are supported by implants strategically placed in the jawbone. Existing dentures may even be retrofitted with implants, creating an option that best mimics the design and function of your natural teeth, and preserves long-term bone health.
